LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Oct. 15, 2013) – Three people including two young children were seriously injured Saturday night after a car crash in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store in the 7200 block of Arroyo Crossings, according to a press release by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

About 9:06 p.m., Getnet Tefera, 29 of Las Vegas was driving a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with two children ages 2 and 4 years old as passengers in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store. The adult and two children were all seriously injured. Paramedics responding to the crash transported them all by ambulance to University Medical Center’s trauma unit where they were listed in serious condition.

The single-vehicle crash is under investigation by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s Accident Investigations Section, the report said.

LAS VEGAS: Nevada: Utah Teen Claims She Didn’t See Pedestrians

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, (August 15, 2013) – Utah teen, Nyakueth Tear, is claiming that she didn’t see the crowd of more than eight people when she hit them with her car. She hit a crowd of pedestrians with her vehicle outside Iglesia de Christo Church on Losee Road last Thursday. Eight people were injured, including a pregnant woman.

Immediately, Tear fled the scene where she was later apprehended on the I-15 freeway near construction equipment. Tear is being charged with eight counts of felony hit and run, failing to render aid, as well as obstructing justice when she lied to an officer about her name.

“Anyone who may have been injured in this incident needs to recognize that they were victims of a crime,” states attorney West Seegmiller. Mr. Seegmiller is the owner of The Seegmiller Law Firm in Nevada and California. Mr. Seegmiller has been practicing personal injury law for the last 33 years.

LAS VEGAS: 8-Year-Old Boy Still in Critical Condition After Collision with Dodge Pickup on Woodfield Drive

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (July 30, 2013) — Authorities are still investigating the cause of an vehicle versus bicyclist accident at the intersection of Woodfield Drive and Minden Way that left an 8-year-old boy in critical condition, according to a press release issued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police responded to several 911 calls at at 6:38 p.m. on July 15, reporting that a 2012 Dodge Ram truck had struck a boy riding his bicycle.

Preliminary investigating states that the boy was struck while attempting to cross, on the southbound side, from Woodfield Drive to Minden Way.

The police report states that there was a “posted stop sign,” but there is no indication at this time whether either party ignored or missed the traffic sign.

The press release states the the front of the Dodge truck struck the left side of the bicycle and the 8-year-old boy was forced to the ground.

Emergency personal arrived on scene, and paramedics rushed the boy to UMC Trauma, where he remains in critical condition.

“Drivers often fail to provide a safe passing distance between their vehicle and bicyclists who they share the road with,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Those who travel at night are especially at risk to injury or death as drivers may have difficulty seeing them – that does not relieve a motorist from their duty of paying attention or being on the lookout for bike riders or pedestrians.”

Additionally, pedestrians, bicyclists and other motorists who are injured or killed by a driver may not realize they could be covered by their own insurance policy if they have uninsured or underinsured coverage on their policy, Seegmiller said.  An experienced personal injury attorney can help you determine if you have grounds to file a claim, as well as help you get the compensation you need to cover medical expenses as well as other costs associated with the accident.

LAS VEGAS: One Injured in 3-Vehicle Car Crash on US 95

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (July 30, 2013) – At least one person was hurt Tuesday morning in a rollover crash involving three vehicles on the northbound U.S. 95 Freeway, according to a report by the Las Vegas Sun.

About 7:50 a.m., paramedics transported an injured person with non-live threatening injuries by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center following the wreck that was blocking several lanes of the freeway.

Nevada Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene of the multi-vehicle crash and reported there were two more accidents due to the traffic congestion resulting from the 3-vehicle accident.

“Commuters on the US 95 freeway are often at risk for being involved in a crash due to the heavy traffic,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Those who are hurt in a car crash may need assistance with an injury claim. Also, those who are represented by an attorney typically obtain a settlement 3.5 times higher than without one.”
