Fatal Crash on 210 Freeway at Wheatland Avenue in Sunland

SUNLAND, California (Dec. 18, 2013) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash with a van on the eastbound Interstate 210 Freeway near Wheatland Avenue, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 7:20 a.m., CHP officers reported the crash between the two drivers and noted the motorcyclist was laying on the right side of the freeway in the No. 4 lane. The Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes were open to traffic about 8 a.m. At least one person was taken to Pacifica Hospital for treatment of injuries, but there were no further details.

A SigAlert was issued about 7:39 a.m. for the crash.

“As a motorcycle rider myself, I know firsthand the dangers of riding on our busy freeways,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Indeed, my prayers are with the family and friends of as they are now coping with his sudden loss and trying to piece together what happened.”

Los Angeles Accident Statistics

There were 530 people killed and 50,153 injured in traffic accidents in Los Angeles in 2010, according to statistics compiled by the California Highway Patrol Statewide Integrated Traffic Report.  Statistics show that 197 of those killed in Los Angeles were involved in crashes involving alcohol, 195 were pedestrians, 25 were bicyclists and 74 were motorcyclists, the CHP report said.

LOS ANGELES, California (Dec. 16, 2013) – A motorcyclist was injured Monday morning after a collision with the driver of a gold Lexis sedan in the HOV lane of the southbound Interstate 405 freeway at Getty Center Drive, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 9:45 a.m., CHP officers reported the motorcycle accident and said the rider was sitting in the center divider waiting for police and paramedics to arrive.

Los Angeles Fire Department officials responded to the scene of the accident to assist those who were hurt in the crash, the report said.

Both vehicles required tow trucks and police issued a SigAlert for roughly 30 minutes due to the vehicles blocking the HOV lane.

“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to injury when they travel on our busy freeways during the morning commute,” said Attorney West Seegmiller.  “Police will investigate the cause of this accident to determine liability and the report is typically available to those involved between one to four weeks after the crash.”

ANAHEIM: Motorcyclist Injured in Crash with Car on the 91 Freeway Toll Lanes

ANAHEIM, California (Nov. 27, 2013) – A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday morning in a crash with another driver in the center divider of the westbound State Route 91 freeway in the toll lanes near the State Route 55 freeway, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 6:47 a.m., CHP officers reported a crash between a motorcyclist and a silver BMW sedan that knocked over the bike onto its side, however, the rider was up and walking around.

Paramedics responded to the motorcycle accident to treat and possibly transport the rider and others who may have been injured in the collision.

“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to injury on our busy freeways,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “As a rider myself, I know the risks of being on a motorcycle and I have been injured in a collision so I know how painful it can be.  I certainly hope this rider is not badly hurt and has a full recovery.”

Motorcycle Rider Thrown Off Bike During Crash in Fast Lanes

RIVERSIDE, California (Nov. 20, 2013) –  A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday morning after being run over by a driver on the westbound State Route 91 Freeway at 14th Street, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 8:03 a.m., CHP officers say a motorcyclist was riding on the freeway when the bike went under the big rig truck, the rider was ejected into the HOV lane and his motorcycle landed in the No. 2 lane.

Five other motorists were involved in the accident including a grey Toyota 4 Runner, a grey Nissan Sentra, a white Toyota, a red pickup truck and a black Volkswagen. These vehicles were blocking the HOV and the No. 1 lane following the crash.

The Riverside Fire Department responded to the crash.

“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to injury on our busy freeways,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, a rider himself who handles personal injury cases.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital where he is undergoing surgery for broken bones and other injuries.
