Katherine Shaker Killed, One Injured in Red Light Crash on 215 Beltway

LAS VEGAS, Nevada –  Katherine Shaker, 84, of Las Vegas was identified as the woman killed in a car crash on the 215 beltway Tuesday at Sunset Road, according to the Clark County Coroner.

A Nevada Highway Patrol investigation revealed that Shaker allegedly drove through a red light as she drove northbound on the 215 at the intersection with Sunset Road. Her 2000 Honda CR-V was struck by the driver of a Lexus traveling eastbound on Sunset Road with the right of way, according to a report by 8 News Now. The crash caused the Honda to roll over and the Lexus struck a traffic signal pole and burst into flames injuring its driver, the report said.

Shaker was pronounced dead at the scene of the 12:42 p.m. crash and the other driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, according to the report.
