HEMET, California –  One person was critically injured early Thursday morning in a single vehicle collision with a boulder in the 32000 block of Sage Road at Wade Lane, according to a report by the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters.

About 6:22 a.m., firefighters reportedly had to cut and rescue the person who was trapped in a vehicle and seriously injured. The patient was extricated and transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital where they were listed in critical condition, the report said. There were no other people in the vehicle or involved in the crash, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

“Our firefighters are highly trained to rescue people who are trapped in car accidents and have saved many lives with their heroic efforts,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the injured person.”

Those who are injured in a traffic accident are likely to need extensive care and treatment. Many times the crash is not the fault of the injured person, but someone else whose actions fell below the standard of care required under California law for all motorists. Motorists who are found liable for a car crash are also responsible for the injuries or death of anyone involved.
