HAWTHORNE, California (June 28, 2013) – Two people were killed early Friday morning, and several were injured when a disabled vehicle was struck by a semi tractor trailer truck on the San Diego Freeway in Hawthorne, according to a dispatch report issued by the California Highway Patrol.
Just before 3 a.m., CHP officers received a 911 call informing them that a major collision had occurred on the southbound side of the 405 Freeway at Rosecrans Avenue.
According to the CHP the big rig overturned after hitting the vehicle.
Two people, both adults, were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to a nearby hospital in critical, but stable condition.
This was the second fatal freeway crash in Los Angeles County on Friday morning.
