ANAHEIM, California (July 22, 2013) — Anthony Castaneda, 41, of Anaheim was killed, and his passenger seriously early Monday morning when his pickup truck struck several parked cars at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and West Street, according to a dispatch report filed by the California Highway Patrol.

Just after 1:30 a.m., CHP officers responded to a 911 call reporting an accident in which the driver was ejected from his pickup and laying in the roadway.

Reporting witnesses said the man was driving a vintage souped up pickup truck, gunned the engine, fishtailed, lost control and struck several parked cars before being thrown from the vehicle.

Emergency officials arrived on scene, and paramedics pronounced Castaneda dead. His female passenger was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Anaheim Police Department is investigating the accident.

“There are no words that can lift the burden of grief and sorrow Mr. Castaneda’s family and friends are experiencing right now,” Attorney West Seegmiller said.  “The thoughts and prayers of our entire staff are with them as they cope with his loss. Our prayers also go out to his passenger who is hopefully going to have a full recovery.”
