Driver in Critical Condition After Suspected DUI Crash
ANAHEIM, California (Jan. 20, 2014) – Christopher Tschann, 21, of Yorba Linda was killed Friday night when the suspected drunken driver of the car he was riding in crashed into a tree at the intersection of Canyon Rim Road just west of Via Corral, according to a press release by the Orange County Sheriff Coroner.
About 10:51 p.m., Anaheim Police officers and paramedics responded to the crash and pronounced the Tschann, a passenger, dead at the scene. The driver was reportedly injured in the crash and rushed to UCI Medical Center in Irvine where he was listed in critical condition, CBS News reported. No other vehicles were involved in the fatal accident.
The Anaheim Police Department is investigating the role of alcohol and speed in causing the deadly accident, CBS said in its report.
“There is an accident report pending for this fatal crash and it will contain an analysis of the collision factors based on evidence collected by police,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “This report will establish fault and it is typically available within 30 days.
