Archive for Costco berries hepatitis A

RENO, Nevada (June 6, 2013) – A frozen anti-oxidant berry mix branded “Townsend Farms” from Oregon, were sold at Costco and have infected at least six Nevadans with the Hepatitis A virus. Costco has since cleared the Townsend Farms product from their shelves nationwide. Currently Costco is even offering free Hepatitis A vaccines to anyone who may have been infected with the virus.

Costco is contacting all of its members about possible contamination. More than 60 cases of Hepatitis A have been reported nationwide. “If you or anyone you know has contracted this vile illness, a personal injury attorney should be retained immediately. A free vaccine is just not going to be enough to cover the medical costs, pain and suffering, and lost wages that contracting this virus will cause,” states West Seegmiller, a personal injury attorney in Nevada.

Six cases of Hepatitis A are Linked to Costco Frozen Berries

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

SAN DIEGO, California (June 2, 2013) – The Department of Public Health Officials said Friday that there have been six Hepatitis A cases reported, at least two in California and specifically San Diego. Other counties where outbreaks have been reported include Orange County, and Riverside County. These cases are part of a multi-state outbreak. Three people have already been hospitalized in California. There are about 30 cases so far that have been reported nationwide. The cause of the Hepatitis A outbreak has been linked to frozen berries sold at Costco stores. The berries are labeled as Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend frozen berries. The six victims in California all ate these specific berries. State Health Officer Ron Chapman is urging anyone who may have these berries in their home to immediately discard them.

“This is such a huge health scare, and it’s unthinkable that a disease like Hepatitis A could be contracted from a bag of berries from such a reputable market chain like Costco,” states West Seegmiller, owner and founder of The Seegmiller Law Firm.

Symptoms of Hepatitis A include fever, nausea, abdominal, pain, dark colored urine, and jaundice. Anyone with these symptoms who may have eaten these berries is urged to go to the ER at their local hospital.
