Police Identify Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident; Driver Questioned
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (Sept. 11, 2013) – Touba Yomtoubian, 77, of Huntington Beach was killed Tuesday afternoon when she was struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver who was driving a large tractor trailer truck at the intersection of Springdale Street and Warner Avenue, according to a press release by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
About 1:55 p.m., witnesses told police the driver who struck the Yomtoubian allegedly fled the scene of the crash where the woman was killed while apparently walking in the street. The report did not indicate whether the woman was crossing the street at the time of the hit-and-run accident.
Police later caught up with the driver and were questioning the person about what happened, but the report did not say there were any arrests.
“The investigation is ongoing and investigators are interviewing witnesses,” the report said.
Huntington Beach Police Department is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident and anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Barr at 714 536-5666
