VENTURA COUNTY, California (Jan. 8, 2013) — Mahalingam Shrinivas, 52, of Los Angeles was identified this week as the 52-year-old driver who died after losing control of his 2004 Ferrari F-360 in a crash near Point Mugu, according to The Ventura County Star.
According to the coroner report, Shrinivas died of smoke inhalation he suffered in the aftermath of the high-speed crash where the Ferrari rolled over multiple times, landed into a ditch and burst into flames. A 23-year-old passenger suffered burns in the wreck and was transported by paramedics to a hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Shrinivas worked as a Chief Financial Officer for Voxx Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Epixtar Corp. He previously served as CFO for Mossimo Inc. and Skyhawke Technologies LLC.

“Most drivers carry car insurance not only because it is required under California law, but also because they want anyone who is injured in their vehicle to be taken care of in the event they are injured or killed,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Insurance companies, in turn, do not want injured victims to hire an attorney because studies have shown that victims represented by a lawyer recover 3.5 times more than those who deal directly with an insurance adjuster.”
