WESTMINSTER, California (May 15, 2013) — Hang Vu, 60, of Westminster was killed Monday morning after a car struck them after its driver suddenly accelerated and drove up onto the curb in the parking lot of A Dong Supermarket at 9221 Bolsa Ave., according to a report by the Orange County Sheriff Coroner Department.
About 10:30 a.m., police and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived at the scene of the pedestrian accident and found Vu and another woman pedestrian had been struck by the Honda Accord, the coroner and the Orange County Register reported. Paramedics transported Vu to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she later died at 11:34 a.m., the coroner said.
The Westminster Police Department is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident to determine its cause and whether to press charges against the male driver of the vehicle.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort this woman’s family and friends as they cope with such an incredible loss,” Attorney West Seegmiller said. “The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with them as they try to piece together what happened and come to terms with her death.”
