UPDATE: Coroner Identifies Oliver Martinez-Iriarte as Passenger Killed in Crash

SANTA ANA, California (Nov. 21, 2013) – Four people were critically injured and a 23-year-old man is dead early Thursday morning after a driver in a blue compact car crashed into a traffic light pole in the 900 block of North Fairview Street, according to Santa Ana Police.
About 1:10 a.m., police say the 20-year-old driver was heading southbound on Fairview when they lost control of the vehicle and slid on the rain-soaked roadway. The young man who died was a passenger in the vehicle in the back seat where the car struck the pole.

Police believe speed and wet road conditions were a factor in the collision and will investigate whether alcohol played a role as well. Four people were hospitalized including the driver with critical injuries, police said.

Indeed, the roadways are especially slippery when it rains following a long dry spell as oil drippings have not been washed off the roadway for some time, said Attorney West Seegmiller.

“This is a tragedy for the family and friends of the person who was killed in this accident,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Hopefully those who were injured in this accident are able to fully recover from their injuries.”

COSTA MESA: Motorcyclist Chad de Lorm, 40, of Huntington Beach Killed After Crash with Car on Adams Aveune

Monday, August 5th, 2013

COSTA MESA, California (August 5, 2013) — Chad de Lorm, 40, of Huntington Beach was killed Sunday afternoon when the driver of a Honda Civic turned left in front of him into a shopping center on Adams Avenue just east of Royal Palm Drive near the Souplantation restaurant, according to a report by the Orange County Coroner and CBS News.

Just minutes before 4 p.m., Mr. de Lorm was riding his 2011 Kawasaki ZX motorcycle eastbound on Adams Avenue in the No. 2 lane at the same time Sandra Foley, 62, of Costa Mesa was traveling westbound on the same street in a 2005 Honda Civic, according to the coroner and CBS News.

Mr. De Lorm was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the coroner said.

The fatal motorcycle crash is under investigation by the Costa Mesa Police Department.

“Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable to injury or death because drivers often pull in front of them to make a left-hand turn and they are unable to stop,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “This motorcyclist appeared to have the right-of-way when the driver pulled in front of him and sadly he had no chance of avoiding the crash.”

BREA, California (August 1, 2013) – A driver was pinned underneath a big rig truck Thursday morning on the southbound State Route 57 Orange Freeway just south of E. Lambert Road, according to a dispatch report by the California Highway Patrol.

About 8 a.m., CHP officials reported a light grey two-door sedan had crashed with the driver of a big rig tractor trailer truck. Several good Samaritans were trying to get the injured people out of the sedan. The crash was blocking all lanes of the freeway, CHP officers said.

Brea Fire Department emergency workers reported to the scene of the crash with an ambulance to possibly transport those who were injured. A SigAlert was issued for roughly 30 minutes due to blockage of the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 lanes, the CHP reported.

“Drivers are at risk of critical injuries when they are involved in a crash with a large big rig truck,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, a truck accident specialist with headquarters in Newport Beach. “Those injured should seek immediate medical attention as well as help from a truck accident attorney.”

RANCHO CUCAMONGA: Seven-Vehicle Injury Crash, Motorcyclist Down on I-10 Freeway at Mountain Avenue

Friday, July 19th, 2013

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California (July 19, 2013) – A seven-vehicle injury car crash involving a motorcyclist Friday morning was blocking three lanes of the westbound Interstate 10 Freeway at Mountain Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch report.

About 8:45 a.m., CHP officers reported a motorcyclist and a black sedan were involved in the crash in the HOV lane, but soon it updated the crash to seven vehicles. The wreck was blocking the HOV and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway. Two flatbed tow trucks were called to the scene of the crash to remove vehicles and debris from the roadway. Paramedics also responded, but the report did not indicate whether anyone was transported to a hospital. The extent and number of injuries is also not known.

“If you are involved in a crash involving more than one driver it’s important to take down insurance and driver information from everyone involved,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “More important, contact a personal injury attorney to help you protect your rights and get compensation for your financial losses.”
