Riverside Car Accident Attorney Reports on Car Crash on Interstate 10 Freeway

BEAUMONT, California (Oct. 7, 2013) – Three people suffered major injuries late Friday afternoon in a car crash on the westbound Interstate 10 freeway just west of Highway 60, according to a press release by the Riverside County Fire Department.

About 6:35 p.m., Riverside fire officials reported to the scene of the injury crash to cut and rescue several people who were trapped in the wreckage following the crash.

All three people were transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center where they were listed in critical condition with major injuries, the report said.

“Most drivers carry car insurance not only because it is required under California law, but also because they want anyone who is injured in their vehicle to be taken care of in the event they are injured or killed,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Insurance companies, in turn, do not want injured victims to hire an attorney because studies have shown that victims represented by a lawyer recover 3.5 times more than those who deal directly with an insurance adjuster.”

COACHELLA, California (Oct. 7, 2013) –  A suspected hit-and-run DUI driver was arrested Sunday night after allegedly crashing into the back of another driver at the intersection of Grapefruit Boulevard and Avenue 48, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

About 7:43 p.m., Coachella Police officers responded to the injury traffic accident on Grapefruit Boulevard involving a gray Nissan pickup truck and a green Chevrolet Silverado, the report said. INDIO, California (Oct. 3, 2013) — A 72-year-old woman suffered major injuries and later died Wednesday night after being struck by a driver at the intersection of Palo Verde Street and Avenue 45, according to a press release by CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire.

About 6 p.m., the woman was walking with her husband who was riding a scooter when a driver in a gray Dodge Sebring struck and critically injured her. The man on the scooter was not injured in the crash, but he witnessed the incident.

Riverside firefighters from the Indio Battalion responded to a traffic collision to assist the woman.

She was reportedly transported by paramedics to the John F. Kennedy Hospital Emergency Room for treatment of major injuries, but she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at 6:45 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

The coroner identified the woman as Marie Valenzuela, 72, of Indio.

The driver was interviewed by police and an investigation into the circumstances will begin. Police will ultimately determine liability for this pedestrian accident.

“A complete investigation must be made into the circumstances surrounding this accident,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Police need to interview all witnesses, examine evidence and take measurements to determine liability for this woman’s death. Police will also decide whether criminal charges will be filed.”

DESERT HOT SPRINGS: Man, 23, Killed in Rollover Crash on 13th Avenue at Indian Canyon Drive

Monday, August 12th, 2013

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, California (August 12, 2013) – One person was killed and another critically injured Saturday morning in a rollover crash between two vehicles on 13th Avenue at Indian Canyon Drive, according to a report by the Riverside County Fire Department.

About 8:46 a.m., the driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle, spun out and was broadsided by a small pickup truck, the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner reported.

Joshua Shane Kelly, 23, of Desert Hot Springs was identified by the coroner as the man who died at the scene of the crash. Kelly was ejected when his sedan was broadsided by the other driver.  The report indicates that Kelly may not have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort this man’s family and friends as they cope with such an incredible loss,” Attorney West Seegmiller said.  “The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with them as they try to piece together what happened and come to terms with his death.”

Indeed, there are many factors involved when someone is killed in a car crash.  Police will likely take measurements, photograph the accident scene, speak with the involved drivers, as well as witnesses and create a police report.
