RIVERSIDE, California – Eight vehicles including a moving truck were involved in a chain reaction traffic accident Friday morning on the northbound lanes of the Interstate 405 Freeway just south of the US 101 Freeway, according to a dispatch report by the California Highway Patrol.
The 9:50 a.m. collision involved a large, yellow Penske moving truck, a blue sports utility vehicle, a red truck, a red Honda Fit that was police reported was facing the wrong way and blocking the Nos. 4 and 5 lanes. The CHP issued a SigAlert about 10:08 a.m. for the No. 6 lane and a few minutes later for the No. 5 lane as well, the report said.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash, but the report did not indicate how many people were injured or taken to the hospital for treatment.
“Multiple-vehicle traffic accidents can sometimes be the result of motorists traveling too closely, but a police investigation will ultimately determine who is at fault for the crash,” Attorney West Seegmiller explains.
