Montoya was struck and critically injured by a driver in the southbound lanes of Perris Boulevard, just north of San Michele Road, but he died a short time later at 12:51 a.m.
The Moreno Valley Police Department is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident to determine exactly why the man was killed and whether the driver was at fault for the crash.
