John Nodd Dies Two Days After Struck by Car on His Bicycle in Moreno Valley
Moreno Valley Man Dies Two Days After Hospitalized for Bicycle Accident
MORENO VALLEY, California (Sept. 17, 2013) – John Nodd, 63, of Moreno Valley died Saturday just two days after he was critically injured in a bicycle accident with a driver on Moreno Beach Drive just north of John F. Kennedy Drive, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
About 11:46 on Sept. 12, Nodd was riding his bicycle in the roadway when he was hit by the driver and critically injured. Paramedics responded to the scene of the crash and transported Nodd by ambulance to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley where he later died on Saturday at 5 p.m., the report said.
The fatal bicycle accident is under investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Moreno Valley Station. Police gathered evidence at the scene of the accident, spoke with witnesses and those involved in the crash and will compile a police report with their determination about liability.
The survivors of Mr. Nodd will be able to obtain this police report when it is complete.
Indeed, the findings by police will indicate whether his family has grounds for a wrongful death claim against the driver who struck Mr. Nodd, said Attorney West Seegmiller.
“Bicyclists are at risk of injury or death when they share the road with motorists,” Seegmiller said. “A negligent driver can be held liable. Survivors may ask an attorney to file a claim for compensation to pay their losses including medical bills, funeral costs and loss of companionship.”
