2-year-old Girl, Two Adults Killed, Four Injured at Red Light Car Crash — file photo

Driver Ran Red Light, Crashes into Two Motorists Killing 3 People, Injuring 4 Others

UPDATE: Shawn Michael Scott, 33, of Fontana, and Helen Terry Amaya, 33, of El Monte Identified as Two Adults Killed in Crash

FONTANA, California (Oct. 22, 2013) –  Three people are dead including a 2-year-old girl after a 3-vehicle crash Monday morning at the intersection of Citrus Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.

About 8:38 p.m., witnesses told police that the driver of an SUV sped through a red light, struck the driver of a blue truck and a third vehicle that were stopped at the traffic light.

The 2-year-old girl and a man who were in the third vehicle died at the scene of the crash. A 33-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she later died of major injuries sustained in the crash at 10:14 p.m., the coroner said. Four others were injured in the crash, but details were not disclosed.

The Fontana Police Department is investigating the collision.

“The driver who caused this fatal crash must be held accountable for their actions,” said Attorney West Thomas. “These people did not deserve to lose their lives in this way because a driver was in a hurry to make the light or any other reason.”

Police will likely file criminal charges against the driver who ran the red light and caused the crash. The families of the victims killed in this crash and those injured, may file a civil lawsuit against the driver as well.

“There are always going to be reckless drivers on our roadways, however, the victims of these crashes should not have to suffer or struggle to pick up the pieces after such an incident,” Thomas said.

BARSTOW: Santa Ana Girl, 10, Killed in Rollover Crash on I-15 Freeway at Afton Canyon Road

Monday, August 5th, 2013

BARSTOW, California (August 5, 2013) – A 10-year-old Santa Ana girl was killed Sunday morning when the SUV she was riding in overturned on the northbound Interstate 15 freeway near Afton Canyon Road in a rural area of Barstow, according to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner Department.

About 9:23 a.m., the Orange County child was a passenger in the 2000 Lincoln Navigator heading northbound on the freeway. The left-rear tire of the SUV experienced tire separation and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The SUV rolled over at least one time, the report said.

Barstow CHP officers are investigating the crash to determine liability for the crash.

“There are many factors involved in a fatal car crash including whether the vehicle was properly maintained, manufacturer’s defects, dangerous road conditions, involvement of other drivers and more,” said Attorney West Thomas. “My condolences go out to the family of this young girl as they cope with her sudden loss and try to piece together how this could have happened.”

HESPERIA: Fundraiser at Dog House Saloon to Beneift Marshall and Lisa Turner Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

HESPERIA, California (July 30, 2013) – Friends and family of Marshall and Lisa Turner will gather this Saturday night at the Dog House Saloon to remember the popular biker couple killed in a tragic motorcycle accident Saturday night on State Route 138 at Summit Valley Road, according to an article.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at 17099 Main St, Hesperia, 92345. The biker bar was a favorite hangout for the Turners – Lisa loved to sing karaoke, especially Bon Jovi songs. Now the location will be a venue to raise money to pay for funeral expenses in the wake of Saturday’s tragic crash.

According to CHP and coroner reports, Marshall Dale Turner, 64, known to friends as “Highway,” was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife Lisa Turner, 46, as his passenger on State Route 138. It was about 5:30 p.m. and the couple was traveling eastbound with several fellow riders. Police are investigating whether the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban veered into opposing traffic and struck the Turners. The SUV was pulling a trailer carrying two personal watercraft at the time of the crash.

Paramedics responded to the motorcycle accident, but both Marshall and Lisa died at the scene from critical injuries. The CHP is investigating the crash to determine liability for the Turner’s wrongful death.

“As a motorcycle rider myself, I know firsthand the dangers riders face on our busy Southern California freeways,” said Attorney West Thomas. “Indeed, my prayers are with the family and friends of the Turners as they cope with this sudden loss and attempt to piece together what happened. Liability for this accident will be determined and the negligent driver will be held responsible.”

Friends who wish to attend the event can get more information here: Lisa and Highway fundraiser at the Doghouse in Hesperia.

There has been an account set up to pay for funeral costs at: http://www.gofundme.com/3rfrpo
