Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5, Leaves Three People Injured

SAN DIEGO, California (May 27, 2013) – A two-vehicle crash occurred this morning in San Diego on the southbound I-5 that backed up traffic for hours and left three people with injuries. Two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of the I-5 near Sea World at about 11 a.m., leaving one of the vehicles (an SUV) overturned in the left lane. Three injured people were taken to hospitals, and one of the injured was a child. According to CHP, some of the injuries were severe.

House Fire Injures Two Preteens, Leaves Home a Total Loss

SPRING VALLEY, California (May 24, 2013) – According to an article in UT San Diego online, a house fire occurred today in Spring Valley that displaced a family of four, and injured the two preteen children. The preteens were both treated for smoke inhalation. The flames broke out at about 2:45 p.m. setting off the home’s smoke alarm. The residence, located at Central Avenue, near Tory Street, sustained over 100,000 of damages and is considered a total loss. The sheriff’s bomb-arson unit is investigating the cause of the fire.

One Woman Killed and Another Injured in 2-Car Collision on Coronado

OTAY MESA, California (May 22, 2013) – According to an article in UT San Diego, one woman was killed and another injured in a 2-car accident that occurred on Coronado Avenue near 27th Street in Otay Mesa last Thursday morning. The accident occurred at about 8:40 a.m. when a Ford Contour was driving eastbound and veered into the wrong lane crashing head-on with a Toyota Camry. The Contour was knocked onto its roof in the center of the lane, trapping the 29-year-old driver. She was eventually freed from the wreckage by a courageous police officer- but was declared dead. The female driver of the Camry was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Contour driver is thought to have caused the crash because she accelerated into the wrong lane.

SAN DIEGO, California (May 18, 2013) – According to an article in 8NewsNow.com, police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred in the Midway District of San Diego and left a pedestrian with critical injuries. At about 8:15 p.m. Friday a driver struck a pedestrian that was crossing at Midway Drive and Rosecrans Street. The pedestrian was a man in his forties and was walking along the 2700 block of Midway when he was struck by 2004 Honda that was headed northbound. A man in his 30’s was driving the Honda and after hitting the pedestrian he fled in his vehicle. Police were able to apprehend him in his home later that evening.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries to a finger and one of his legs.

Fire in Lakeside Leaves Woman Injured with Serious Burns

LAKESIDE, California (May 13, 2013) – According to an article in UTSanDiego.com, a woman suffered serious burns in a mobile home fire that started in a creek bed in Lakeside, California. A trailer home was completely destroyed as well as other homes and vehicles nearby. The trailer park where the fire occurred is located off Highway 8 near Los Coches Road and is named Glenview Mobile Lodge. Almost 1 ½ acres surrounding the mobile home park were burned before fire personnel were able to put out the blaze. Paramedics transported the injured woman to UC San Diego Medical Center burn unit to be treated for her injuries.
