Pit Bulls Attacking Mail Carriers Still a Major Problem

Thursday, August 1st, 2013

SAN DIEGO, California (August 1, 2013) – A U.S. Postal Service worked is spreading his story of being attacked by a pit bull while on his route, hoping it will draw more attention to the ongoing problem. According to The U.S. Postal Service, 31 letter carrier employees have been attacked by pit bulls so far in 2013.

Two weeks ago, Buddy Siso, a postal worker, was attacked by a pit bull in Golden Hill. According to Siso, the dog broke through a chain-link fence and bit Siso on the throat and leg. Siso states that he still has nightmares about the incident.

While Siso was able to use his mail bag in order to block part of his neck from being bitten, he still ended up covered in blood and needed plastic surgery to repair the wounds. Siso stated that he wants to go back to work for U.S.P.S, but not as a letter carrier.

“Postal workers need to be aware that they have legal rights and are entitled to compensation for any injuries they may have sustained because of a dog attack,” states personal injury attorney West Seegmiller.

Toys ‘R’ Us Issues Recall for Remote-Controlled Helicopter after Fire Hazard Threat Discovered

Monday, July 8th, 2013

San Diego, CALIFORNIA (July 8, 2013) – Toys ‘R’ Us has issued an official voluntary recall of all Fast Lane FA-005, 3-Channel remote-controlled helicopters with Gyro Stabilizer and Charger that were sold at Toys ‘R’Us stores. There have already been 11 reports throughout the world that the helicopter’s rechargeable battery overheats and presents a fire hazard. While no injuries have been reported yet, Toys ‘R’ Us was not willing to take any chances. The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that around 6,500 toy helicopters were sold in the United States and about 900 were sold in Canada. All were sold between the dates September 2012 through January 2013 for the price of about $100. Toys ’R’ Us has urged consumers to return the toys and that it will give purchasers a full refund.

“These toys are very popular right now, and they can pose a significant threat from an over-heating battery because they are able to fly all around and to inaccessible parts of the home, such as roof-tops,” states Attorney West Seegmiller, owner of The Seegmiller Law Firm in San Diego.

Newspaper Production Worker Knocked Unconscious at Border Crossing

Monday, April 15th, 2013

SAN DIEGO, California (April 15, 2013) – Francisco Antonio Gonzalez, 35, stated at a news conference today that he was beat up by a border patrol officer at the Tijuana/ San Diego border crossing. Gonzalez states that while he was in line inside the San Ysidro port of entry building, a Customs and Border Protection officer told him to go to another line. Gonzalez questioned the officer’s order because he thought the other line was much longer. The next thing Gonzalez remembers is the officer “grabbing” him. Gonzalez then remembers waking up inside an ambulance. Gonzalez works for a San Diego newspaper and often visits his family in Tijuana.  Gonzalez suffered from a cut lip, gashes on his left eyelid and chin, and a broken thumb. Customs and Border Protection would not comment.

“Something about this incident strikes me as unjust,” states West Seegmiller, founder of the Seegmiller Law Firm.
