SAN DIEGO, California (August 14, 2013) – Matias Escobar Aguilar, 26, was arrested and put behind bars today after being suspected of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Aguilar was allegedly drunk while he was speeding in his 1993 Ford Ranger truck going westbound at the 10900 block of Sunny Meadow Street.
At around 6:45 a.m., the 25-year-old male pedestrian was hit and killed while he was standing in the roadway, according to San Diego police. The victim died at the scene and his name has not yet been released. “This young man could be anyone’s son, father, brother, or best friend.
Death at the hands of a drunk driver is random, sudden, and it respects no-one,” states attorney West Seegmiller, owner of The Seegmiller Law Firm in San Diego. West Seegmiller has been representing DUI victims and their families for more than 33 years.
