SAN JOSE: Woman Injured After Car Hit by Cement Truck Tire on 101 Freeway at Tully Road

Woman Injured After Cement Truck Tire Strikes Vehicle on 101 Freeway

SAN JOSE, California (Sept. 5, 2013) – A woman was injured Thursday morning when her car was struck by a tire that fell off a cement truck on the southbound US 101 Freeway at Tully Road, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 11:10 a.m., CHP officers reported an injured woman’s dark gray Hyundai was struck by the wheel and called for an ambulance to assist the victims. The Department of Transportation maintenance workers were at the scene of the crash as well as a hazmat team.

“This type of accident is not common,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, a personal injury attorney. “Drivers sharing the roadway with big rig trucks are susceptible to all types of debris falling off the back of the truck including tires coming loose.”

Indeed, police will gather evidence to determine liability for the accident and issue a police report that can be used by anyone who is injured to help them file a claim for their losses.

SAN JOSE: Minor Injury Crash Involving Big Rig Truck on Highway 17 at Summit Road

Thursday, August 22nd, 2013

Minor Injuries Reported in Crash with two vehicles and a big rig truck on Highway 17 at Summit Road

Two Vehicles Involved in Highway 17 Crash with Big Rig Truck Near Summit Road

SAN JOSE, California (August 22, 2013) –  Paramedics were called to the scene of a minor injury traffic accident involving the drivers of a big rig truck, a red sedan and a third vehicle after a collision Thursday afternoon on the northbound State Route 17 at Summit Road, according to a dispatch report by the California Highway Patrol.

About 12:44 p.m., CHP officers reported there was a red two-door sedan facing the wrong way in the center divider that was blocking the No. 1 lane of Highway 17. The sedan had reportedly crashed with a big rig truck and the wreck was blocking both lanes of the roadway causing traffic to pileup, the report said.

A bystander who was driving a blue Ford Escort stopped and got out of their vehicle to block traffic in an effort to protect the occupants of the vehicles. CHP officers say the injuries were minor and that both vehicles required a tow truck. The wreck was cleared from the roadway by about 1:06 p.m., the report said.

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured in this accident,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “Sometimes, however, injuries to the neck and back may not present themselves until a day or two after a car accident. It’s important to seek medical attention immediately to ensure you do not worsen this type of injury.”

Indeed, police investigate all crashes involving injuries to determine liability, including taking measurements, photographing the accident scene, speaking with anyone involved in the accident. Witnesses will also help officers as they put together their police report.

“Whenever there are injuries involved in a big rig truck accident, the trucking companies will send out representatives to gather key evidence to support their version of what happened in an accident,” Seegmiller said. “There are always two sides to every accident, but it’s best to arm yourself with an attorney who specializes in trucking accidents and knows the industry.”

At The Seegmiller Law Firm, we serve injured clients who live in the San Jose, California area as well as those injured throughout California who have been involved in truck accidents.
