SAN JOSE, California (Sept. 5, 2013) – A woman was injured Thursday morning when her car was struck by a tire that fell off a cement truck on the southbound US 101 Freeway at Tully Road, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 11:10 a.m., CHP officers reported an injured woman’s dark gray Hyundai was struck by the wheel and called for an ambulance to assist the victims. The Department of Transportation maintenance workers were at the scene of the crash as well as a hazmat team.
“This type of accident is not common,” said Attorney West Seegmiller, a personal injury attorney. “Drivers sharing the roadway with big rig trucks are susceptible to all types of debris falling off the back of the truck including tires coming loose.”
Indeed, police will gather evidence to determine liability for the accident and issue a police report that can be used by anyone who is injured to help them file a claim for their losses.
