North County, San Diego (March 6, 2013) – An Oceanside couple and their two dogs were killed Saturday night in a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 5 south near the U.S. border Patrol checkpoint just south of San Clemente. The accident happened when the driver, Garrick Watkins slammed into a pole and the vehicle caught fire and then exploded. Watkin’s wife, 23-year-old Shardeh Danielle Watkins was a passenger in the vehicle. Shardeh and Garrick had just married in May of 2011. Friends and family of the victims are shocked and saddened by the loss. An Investigation continues and the cause is still unknown.
