LAS VEGAS: Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Regional Transportation Commission, Calls Bus Shelters in Las Vegas “Death Traps”

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

LAS VEGAS: (September 25, 2013) – A Las Vegas Attorney is filing a class action lawsuit against the Regional Transportation Commission because he says the more than 1000 bus stop shelters that they operate are dangerous “death traps” to those who use them, according to 8 News Now. This attorney feels that more needs to be done by the city in order to protect bus riders and things are not moving fast enough.

This lawsuit comes in the wake of an incident on Friday in which three small boys were severely injured after a being hit at a bus stop shelter at Bonanza Road and Lamb Boulevard, the report said. The lawsuit is pushing to make bus stop shelters more than five feet away from the curb.  The lawsuit is not seeking punitive damages.

“This is a good thing for the citizens of Las Vegas,” states attorney West Seegmiller, owner of West Seegmiller Attorneys in Las Vegas.

Chula Vista Elementary School Officials Suing The Federal Department of Justice After District Hired Teacher Involved in Child Pornography Ring

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA: (September 24, 2013) – A lawsuit was recently filed in federal court today that states the government did not make a child pornographer turned elementary school teacher’s public records available to them. The incident goes back to 1998 when John Kinloch, 42, testified in court and apparently made an immunity deal with federal prosecutor, after he was arrested for possession of child pornography that he shared with another man in England.

The School District is arguing that Kinloch’s background never came up when a routine background check was done on him. Kinloch was arrested last December and charged with molestation of a former student as well as trying to persuade other boys to send him nude photographs.

Kinloch pleaded not guilty and is on unpaid leave from Wolf Canyon Elementary School. The lawsuit is aimed at making sure background checks are accurate and updated and that this is prevented with future legislation.

“How this guy ever got hired as an elementary school teacher, even when a background check was done, is really shocking,” states attorney West Seegmiller. Mr. Seegmiller is the owner of the Seegmiller Law Firm in Newport Beach and San Diego and has tried several child molestation cases.

SAN DIEGO: Collision at Federal Boulevard and 47th Street Sends Four People to Hospital

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: (September 24, 2013) – An accident occurred today at the intersection of Federal Boulevard and 47th Street in which four people were sent to local hospitals with varying injuries, according to San Diego police. Apparently a 73-year-old man driving a green van ran a red light on Federal. He told police that the bright hot sun was obscuring his vision and he thought the light was green.

The 73-year-old driver hit a white van which in turn collided with a burgundy colored vehicle. The burgundy vehicle was carrying three people including a minor child. One of the vehicles flipped and landed upside down on its roof. Four people total were taken to a local hospital with injuries. More information on the names of the victims will be forthcoming following a thorough investigation, according to Police.

“It’s funny how an accident happens. None of the four people involved in this collision set out this morning prepared for what occurred. It all can happen in the blink of an eye- yet recovering from injuries, dealing with car insurance companies regarding property damage, dealing with law enforcement, figuring out who was at fault cab be an overwhelming process for many people,” states attorney West Seegmiller.

Mr. Seegmiller is the owner and founder of The Seegmiller Law Firm in San Diego, Newport Beach and Las Vegas. He has been practicing personal injury law and taking on difficult wrongful death cases for over 33 years.
