LA MESA, California — Ramon Siordia Chavira, 76, of Tijuana died Saturday morning after he was ejected from the passenger seat of a tortilla delivery truck he was riding in on the Interstate Route 8 freeway, according to a press release issued by the San Diego County Medical Examiner.

About 7:45 a.m., Chavira was working for a food delivery service and was riding in a truck driven by a 32-year-old man traveling westbound on the I-8 at the connector to the southbound State Route 125 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on rain-soaked road and struck the side of the connector ramp, the report said.

Chavira was ejected out of the passenger seat and crashed through the front windshield into the 125 roadway just north of the Grossmont Boulevard underpass, the report said. The San Diego Union Tribune reported that he was not wearing his seat belt at the of the crash.

Paramedics responded to the truck accident, but Chavira was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash upon their arrival.

“Those who lose a loved one in a traffic accident may find some comfort knowing that their loved one did not die in vain if the responsible party is held accountable for their actions and they are appropriately compensated in an effort to support them after such a terrible loss,” said Attorney West Thomas, founder of The Thomas Law Firm. “The loss of a loved one is a tragedy in itself, but surviving dependents often need financial support in the aftermath.”
