Suspected Drunk Driver and Passenger Killed in New Year’s Day Crash

VICTORVILLE, California – Two people were killed and one was injured early New Year’s Day morning in a single-vehicle crash after the driver apparently lost control of the car on El Evado Road just south of Mojave Drive, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Department report. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol may be a contributing factor in the car accident, according to news reports.
By the time paramedics arrived, driver, Quan Campbell, 29, of Victorville, and passenger, Amber Thompson, 21, of Pomona, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident about 6:39 a.m., the report showed. A third male passenger, Wade Wheeler, 20, of Victorville, was transported by emergency helicopter to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
According to the coroner report, Campbell was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and rolled over multiple times. The Sheriff Department’s MAIT team investigated the accident.
Fatal traffic accidents were down 12% to 2,715 deaths in 2010 in California compared to 3,090 killed in 2009, according to statistics compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 1. The driver of the vehicle was Wade Wheeler, he and a fourth occupant survived the crash. Wade Wheeler left the scene of the accident along with the 4th unidentified female passenger, leaving behind Quan Campbell and Amber Thompson, then called for help 3 hours later.
In my opinion San Bernadino County Sheriffs needs to look more into the part that Wade Wheeler played in this horrific accident. Who just leaves the scene then call for help 3 hours later (something smells fishy).
Amber was the girlfriend of Wheeler and Campbell was the person that took Wheeler in off the streets and allowed Wheeler to live with him and his family. Wheeler knows that Quan was a responsible young man with a wife and two baby daughters, but Wheeler refuses to even tell Campbell’s wife what happened to her husband.
I don’t want to see this rat go scott- free he took away a Good man, a Father a Husband and Son, Brother and Wonderful Friend. My heart also goes out to the Family of Amber Thompson and pray that God gives Peace to both families involved.

    • Just so you know NIck Drezdon THe def of slander: a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name. As a Close friend to all three persons in this horrific accident this is not the time or place for this kind of behavior to take place. I know for a fact that this is not what Quan Campbell Or Amber Thompson would want. Now is the time to morn for the ones we lost not to be angry at the one who survived its normal for us to be angry and hateful towards the one who lives We should give thinks to god that at least one person from this horrible tragedy made it through… My heart goes out to both family’s You will be in my prayers.
