Infant, Man and Woman Injured in Wrong-way DUI Crash, Drunken Driver Arrested
WOODLAND HILLS, California (Feb. 3, 2014) – A family of three including a baby were seriously injured early Sunday morning when a suspected DUI driver fleeing police at high speeds crashed head on into their car on the southbound 405 Freeway near Victory Boulevard, according a report by KCAL News.
About 2:30 a.m., police began to pursue a reckless driver on the 101 Freeway, but the man led them on a high-speed chase that ended on the I-405 Freeway in an injury accident with a 30-year-old driver of a Toyota Highlander and his two passengers, a 2-month-old baby and a woman, 28.
Paramedics responded to the crash and transported the man, woman and baby to UCLA Medical Center where they were all listed in serious condition, but are expected to survive, the report said.
The suspected drunken, wrong-way driver was also taken to hospital and he was placed under arrest on charges of evading police causing injury, DUI and possibly other charges.
“My prayers are with the family injured in this crash as they recover from this senseless crash,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “There will be a police report issued detailing exactly what happened and this will be available within 30 days of an accident.”
